Well, that's how I felt while doing this piece. Gackt hot. Hot Gackt hot.
But MAN ALIVE was this a pain in the butt. Between the late shipment of pastels, color fading from the fixative, and having to scan it in six times, it certainly bit me in the behind. But I think it was worth it. When is drawing my favourite Japanese God of Music NOT fulfulling?
There are some definate problems with this piece, but I'm still pretty proud of it, it being my first colour realism and first pastel. I was inspired by my friend Fritz when he was doing some pastel portraits, so I thought I'd give it a try. The face is a bit long, and eyes a bit small, and the lips are just sort of . .weird, but other than that, I'm quite happy with it. Especially with how smooth the colour is. Pastels are pretty fun. When they aren't being too hard or too soft.
Looks much better in person. Because it is so massively huge, I had to cut some stuff out in the scan, like Gackt's hojillion rings. Just imagine they are there.
The original is available for this piece, as are prints. Note me if you're interested!
Time Elapsed: 20-25 hours
Size: 19"x24"
Materials Used: Prismacolour pastels, charcoal pencil, my widdle finger for smudging
Wow..the blending is really fantastic! I also love the colors you used..really warm..and..yum The eyes are great and I wish I could see the whole hand! Really nice artwork...you should use pastels more!
Eeeee, thank you so much. Yea, the pastels were rather . . .frustrating at times, but better in some ways than pencil, I think. I don't know . .but I sure can't do what you do!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Why do people take by force what they could obtain by love?
